tallerico weekend

thursday afternoon jamie's parents arrived! we had a really good time with them. we didn't really do a lot, just explored a few neighborhoods and ate a lot of really good food, but it was so good to see them! And they seemed to really like our neighborhood, so maybe they'll come back : )
here's a few pictures from the weekend:

one of the neighborhoods we went to was carroll gardens. this is jamie and my new favorite neighborhood. it's a lot like ours, but something about it is even nicer!

this was in front of a little chapel we stopped at.

and inside the chapel

we took them by our grocery store because there is a pretty good view of the statue of liberty.

did i mention they brought presents?!? this is an adorable robe they brought for baby t

and matching towels

lots of cute things!

and even something for me!

and gorgeous nursing gown (and SOOO soft!)

and matching robe

poor sophia. nothing for her this time :(

we also went to brooklyn heights (which is very beautiful too!)

and here's this week's belly shot. fyi: i look bigger in this picture (or dress) than i actually am.

i love the sun!

it was almost 90 degrees today! i was so excited. sophia and i packed up and headed to the park again. it was really hot so we found a spot by a tree. it still seemed too hot for little sophia though. AND she was very confused about not being allowed off her leash. poor girl. but the good news is that we made it home without me losing an eye or anything!
once again, i don't have much to say, and sadly no pictures. when it's nice out, all i want to do is be outside.
i do have one thing to say though, tomorrow jamie's parents are coming to visit! i'm really excited. jamie is even taking friday off work so that we can do something fun. the only bad news is that the weather isn't supposed to be very nice while they are here. hopefully that will change. we don't have any definite plans set, but we will probably go to ellis island to see jamie's grandfather's name. and of course, eat lots of delicious food! does anyone have any suggestions of things we should do, or places we should eat???

plastics

so, i really have nothing to say today. it's been so beautiful outside, that i've been trying to spend as much time out there as possible. nothing exciting has happened. although, today i did go to a plastic surgeon. no, not for new boobs, but to have him look at my face. i just wanted to know if there was anything i should be doing to prevent scarring. anyway, he told me that i should have gotton stitches when it first happened, and that at this point, there isn't much to do. he said i will definitely have a noticeable scar. he also said i have 2 options: 1. to wait and let it heal and see what mother nature does, and then reassess what needs to be done or 2. go ahead and cut out the scratch as well as the swollen skin around it and get a clean incision. he said there are pros and cons to that approach, so he recommended waiting. i was glad! he also took the scab off (which i though you weren't supposed to do), he said that for cosmetic purposes, scabs aren't very helpful. it looks a little grosser, but actually a little less noticeable. so... i'm supposed to keep washing it and applying neosporin and then go back in 2 weeks to make sure it's healing. we'll see. cross your fingers for as little of a scar as possible!

i tried to get a picture of the scratch, but it was really hard!

see? kind of less noticeable, right?

this is another onesie that i made last week (or the week before that???) and just got around to finishing.

easter sunday

today was easter, and it was a gorgeous day! jamie and i had planned to go to the late easter mass, so i got up and made a special brunch: california eggs benedict. it took longer than i had thought (because of the hash browns), but it turned out delicious! AND we didn't have to deal with the crowds at a restaurant! then we went to mass (it was my first one ever). the church was beautiful! i was really expecting a formal service, traditional hymns with a choir and organ, the whole shabang. however, it wasn't formal at all music-wise. i'm wondering if it was because it was the late mass? anyway, after mass we were going to take sophia and a picnic to the park, but we were both still full from brunch, so we just packed up the dessert i had made and took it with us. it was such a nice day, so of course the park was full. fortunately it is a HUGE park, so we were able to find a spot. we watched people playing frisbee, soccer, cricket, flying kites, and even juggling and doing other circus tricks! and the best part of all: we made it home with no scratches from sophia! j/k she's a good girl most of the time. it was a really great easter, hope yours was too!

easter brunch

delicious california eggs benedict! (for those of you not familiar, it has no meat, instead it has avocado and tomato and is from heaven, aka california)

the beautiful st. francis xavier church

my yummy dessert. it's basically a lemon/blueberry cheesecake. if you want the recipe it is here.

april 1st

this morning i received TWO boxes in the mail. this is very unusual, and exciting for me! one of the 2 i was expecting. i had ordered replacement blades for my rotary cutter a while ago, and have been playing tag with the post office all week. the other one was a complete surprise!

first of all, let me say that i assumed that my blades would be very small, small enough to fit in a padded envelope in fact. which is why i was so surprised that shipping was over $6! and then, when it came today, it was in this huge box!

see how small? this is all that was in there!

just to give you a better idea of the size...
btw, did i mention they turned out to be the WRONG size??? so now i have to figure out how to return them!

the other package was much more exciting! it was an easter package from my sweet momma!

this is what i found inside

aren't these bibs cute? they are the first baby t has!

and finally baby t has a 2nd outfit!

cute little marshmallow treats. and did you notice the reese's eggs? my favorite!

after this pleasant morning sophia and i noticed it was a GORGEOUS day out! so we decided to head to the park. we live by this amazing park and have only gone to it once. the only bad thing is that dogs aren't allowed off leash during the day. however, it was such a pretty day out, i thought she'd enjoy it anyway. so i packed a blanket and a book and we headed out. she had been kind of on edge all day, which is somewhat normal in the apartment, but not outside of it. anyway, we got there and spread out. i was laying down reading and she was sitting next to me, and all of a sudden she is standing on my face, freaking out! apparently she saw another dog and didn't want it coming near us. i stayed cool, but once i sat up and got her calm i noticed blood pouring off my face. i assumed i had a small scratch. luckily i had kleenx with me. i got it to stop bleeding (after going through 3 kleenx), and decided to try to stay a bit longer. i could feel my face swelling though, so decided to head home. when i got there i was mortified! it was so much bigger than i thought! and starting to bruise and already swelling. i tried to clean it and put ice on it, then neosporin. it is sore, but i'm especially concerned about scaring since it's so large, and on my face! cross your fingers for me!

this picture does NOT do it justice. i promise, it looks a lot worse. : )
