Halloween 2008

For Halloween this year we kind of celebrated twice. The weekend before was my friend Erin's birthday. Her husband threw her a costume party with a haunted prom theme. Jamie was going to be out of town so I had decided to go as Carrie (from the horror movie). At the last minute Jamie decided to stay, so he threw together a random costume.

Then, on actual Halloween, we were invited to our friends and neighbors house. We of course left finding costumes to the last minute so... we went to Target and got the last 2 costumes they had (which happened to be kids costumes). I was the girl from Harry Potter, and Jamie was some kind of a knight. Maggie and Cass (who's house we were at) were Ugly Betty and a barrel of monkeys. There was also Wayne and Garth, and a few more people. It was a lot of fun!

Jamie turns 31!

here are a few pictures of Jamie's birthday. We didn't do anything too big, just had dinner with friends on Saturday, hung out on Monday, and went out to dinner on the actual day (Tuesday).

Lynd's Fruit Farm

Last weekend we went to Lynd's Fruit Farm to pick apples and pumpkins. It is kind of out by where we work. We had been wanting to go for a while and were hoping to get a group together, but it was just too hard to align so many schedules. So we went alone and had a great time! They grow all kinds of fruits and vegetables. You can pick different things throughout the year. And they also have a market (which was packed!) where they sell everything super cheap. We hit the market and then went picking!

Pseudo Engagement Pictures

While we were home about a month ago my mom had arranged to fulfill a dream she's had for most of my life, to take a family portrait. Her good friend Paul Baker took the photos of us a Will Rogers Park. It was surprisingly a lot of fun and we are all so glad that we did it. While we were there Paul took some of just me and Jamie. They turned out great, here are a few:

The Boss

Today we went to a free Bruce Springsteen concert. It was part of an Obama rally on the Ohio State campus. It was an absolutely beautiful day. We went with our friends Kirk and Eva, and their sister Keri. The Boss, of course, was great. And the highlight of the event is that he inspired Kirk to register to vote! Horray! One more vote for the good guys!

By the way, we also registered at our first store this weekend: Macy's. It was fun but very overwhelming so we will probably have to go back to finish. We plan to register at a couple more places soon.

Weston Luke

Tuesday evening my nephew, Weston Luke Guiltner, died tragically. He was 21 months old. Jamie and I had just been home this past weekend and thankfully were able to spend time with him. He was full of life. He was so happy and so busy. He never wanted to stop. He loved music and loved to dance. It just doesn't seem real that he's gone. We will miss him dearly.

Some Photos

So over Labor Day Weekend Amanda and I went camping 1 night in South East Ohio. It was about a 2.5 hr drive outside of Columbus. It was a really long windy drive. We passed a couple of Amish Buggies on the way to the small campground. The place was called The Covered Bridge Scenic Byway. It is part of Wayne National Forrest. We wanted to take more photos but my camera ran out of room. On the way home we were determined to find out where all those Amish Folk live! Finally on the drive home Amanda spotted some clothes on a clothing line. I didn't see it; of course. I was watching the road. So I turned the car around. It so happened that they were selling fresh vegetables. That gave us an excuse to go up to the house! We park and walk up to look at the vegetables. A young man comes out to help us. He was definitely Amish. They had some of the best vegetables I had seen! And they were cheap to boot! They even had green tomatoes (which Amanda fried up deliciously) We said our goodbyes and drove home.. By the way. I don't mean to make it sound like the Amish are freaks. I am just really curious about their way of life. I find it very interesting..

Saw this AWESOME place when we were test driving cars! If they had beds I wouldn't see a reason to leave.

jamie's gone

so, jamie had to go to minneapolis this weekend for work. it's been very quiet and boring around here with him gone so i decided to work on the boutonnieres. i want them to look really rustic and also to incorporate the peacock feathers. i'm not quite sure how to make a boutonniere, so we'll see... this is what i have so far:
