baby's room

we painted the baby's room last week! it turned out really cute. we did about halfway up the wall with aqua, then a stripe of orange above that. it's a very small room, so it wasn't very hard. now we are trying to figure out if we can fit anything other than a crib in there! i also made the bumper pad last week. i'm pretty happy with how it turned out. i plan to make a quilt too. it will be my very first attempt at a quilt ever, so i'm going to wait for my mom to get here to start it. other than that we just need to fill the room now and wait for baby t (by the way we are half way through the pregnancy now!)

step 1, aqua paint

i swear jamie wasn't the only one painting, he just didn't take any pictures!

finished room. i'm hoping to use this nook as a toy storage/closet area, we'll see if there's room for it in the end.

this is the bumper pad. the exterior is this chain-like pattern, and the interior is an orange geometric pattern.

jamie's last free friday : (

today is the last friday jamie has off before he starts working again. it's kind of bittersweet for me. i'm sad that he will be gone all day, but i am looking forward to having a more normal routine again.
anyway, today we tried to really enjoy our last weekday together. we took sophia to the dog run (which she LOVED of course!) then we went to the brooklyn library and got library cards and some books. anyone who knows me knows how much i adore libraries. i love everything about them, the smell, the quiet, not to mention the thousands of books! but shockingly, i didn't feel anything for this library. it has an impressive exterior, but the interior leaves MUCH to be desired. i hope i learn to love it more the more time i spend there. next we went to the the chocolate room. it's a chocolate cafe a few blocks from our apartment. it was divine!!! we split a chocolate brownie sundae. i can't wait to go back and try the fondue! i even told jamie i would love to work there, but he thought i would eat them out of business.
well, i hope you all have a great weekend! it's actually supposed to be sunny here, i can't wait!

this is the brooklyn library. looks pretty cool, right? looks can be deceiving!

this is the delicious sundae from the chocolate room! (sorry i had to take a bite before i could even take a picture!)

we ate every last bit!

this picture has nothing to do with anything, but i love it! this is sophia's favorite spot in the house.

the MOMA

this is jamie's last week off before starting his new job. so yesterday we decided to go to the museum of modern art. jamie had seen online tim burton had an exhibit there right now. it was really amazing. he is so talented in so many different kinds of art; painting, drawing, film, story telling, etc. if you have a minute, check out the exhibit site: http://www.moma.org/interactives/exhibitions/2009/timburton/ and if you live in the nyc area, go see it!

christmas!

for christmas this year we went back to oklahoma. when we got there it was warm and sunny, within the week that had changed drastically! on christmas eve morning it started snowing. the news was predicting a blizzard, and even though we've learned not to trust the weather forecasters in oklahoma (they tend to be a little dramatic) i decided to call jamie (who was at his parents') and tell him to come now or we may not spend christmas together. he packed up and started trying to get to my mom's house, but only made it a couple of blocks before he had to turn around. it was that bad! so... needless to say, we spent our first christmas as a married couple in separate houses. however, by christmas afternoon, the streets had been cleared enough that jamie was able to come pick my mom and me up and we had christmas dinner at the tallericos, all together! it was a very nice, but bizarre christmas.

xmas eve we each got to open 1 gift, the dogs were VERY excited!

this is all the snow! i don't know if you can tell, but it is REALLY high!

this max trying to get over the snow. it's not happening.

xmas morning stockings!

my sister made these gloves! aren't they awesome???

thanksgiving

just before thanksgiving we found out 2010 would bring a lot of changes! jamie excepted a job in new york city, AND i found out i was pregnant! we had already planned to stay home for thanksgiving, so it was just the 2 of us in columbus. but it was a really nice day, and we had a lot to be thankful for. here are a few pictures of our feast:

the beautiful flowers were sent by my mother!

the china belonged to my grandma phillips, i've been dying to use it! and you might recognize the silverware, it was our first wedding gift from mimi!

backing up - halloween

since we were such bad bloggers the past few months, i'm going to go back and update you on what you've missed. starting with halloween:
i'm assuming anyone who knows jamie, knows he is a bad decision maker. needless to say, i had a very hard time getting him to come up with any costume ideas, or even pick one of mine. he was out of town the few days leading up to halloween, so i took it upon myself to pick our costumes. i picked juno and paulie bleeker from the movie juno.

i spent halloween day (after getting off work) running around like a crazy person trying to find short yellow running shorts for jamie, and tube socks. i really hadn't counted on the tube socks being so difficult, but they were! anyway, it was an unseasonably cold halloween, so when jamie got home and found out what costumes i had chosen, he was worried about the short shorts! i told him tough luck, he left it up to me, and this is what i chose!

we went to the annual halloween party at our friend aaron's house. it was a lot of fun, and since aaron has a dog, he let us bring ours. did i mention sophia, milo, and maisy all had costumes too??? it was a good night.

the funny part is that the entire night everyone kept asking me if i was really pregnant! foreshadowing???

we are sooo behind

so... i know it has been an eternity since we last posted anything, and we have a lot of back tracking to do, but i'm going to go ahead and show you a video of our new home in brooklyn.
for those of you who don't know, jamie excepted a job in nyc and we have moved to brooklyn. we were so sad to leave columbus, but we are excited about our future adventures in new york!
so here is a video of our new place, we hope you like it.
