quilt update

so i have spent the entire day (more or less) trying to finish the quilt. sophia was NOT amused. when i was about 1/4 of the way done i remembered i wanted to embroider something in the middle. so i stopped and added an elephant, also my initials in the bottom corner with the year. then i started again. the hardest part is dealing with all the fabric, i am amazed by people who make anything larger than a crib sized quilt on a sewing machine (or at all for that matter!) after i finished all the vertical seams i spread the quilt out to see how it looked, unfortunately the bottom had moved around a bit and there were several wrinkles : ( so now my options are to either take all the seams out on one side of the quilt, or just leave it. i'm not sure what i want to do yet. i guess i can think about it over the weekend. i really wanted it to look perfect, but it is the underside, and not SUPER obvious, and it's my first quilt ever, so.... we'll see.

here is how i started: laid the bottom of the quilt right side down, then the batting, then the top, right side up. then i pinned and pinned and pinned.

here is the embroidered elephant. can you see him?

see how crowded the sewing machine gets? it's crazy.

and here are the wrinkles.

this is how sophia looked all day. she was so depressed.

oh! and jamie and i did watch the "happiest baby on the block" dvd last night. it was really good. i mean, there were plenty of opportunities for us to make fun of it and laugh, but the information was really good. we are looking forward to trying the techniques on a real baby, so far jamie has just been testing them on sophia. poor sophia (just kidding, she loves any attention she can get!)

tonight we are having a date night. we are supposed to go to dinner and a movie, but we haven't decided where to eat yet, and we don't know where the theater is! we'll figure it out.
well, enjoy your weekend!

I think if you can swaddle and swing Sophia while making loud "shushing" sounds, then you should have no problem with the baby!
